What a Great Day

Greatness is there

But must be looked for.
It won’t smack you in the face, you have to goo get it, you have to look for it.
Like everything that’s worth it, beauty and the greatness of this day

today I was in government office, doing the paper work to get my documentation straight up,
and some guy in his fifties, had a problem, his document (here in Colombia everyone has a document called “Cédula”, which is mandatory) had a wrong data field, the birth date was wrong.
so this guy is arguing about how they screwed up, and they claim that “you signed that paper, you must read what you sign”, it was (obviously) his fault, which was not a reason for him not to fight (uselessly).
so I said (then throw 2 birthday parties instead of one!) and started to laugh.

Nobody laughed with me,since it appears to be a very serious matter (at least to the guy it was) so I became convinced at that very moment, that people just ignore the fact that life can be funny sometimes (even if it means laughing at yourself).

To me it was a great day, perhaps the only problem* is that it might become a need for me to convince everyone that today is a great day, when it’s really not.

* that’s not really a problem, but I can’t think of a better word for it

Some pics for your enjoyment.

Take a moment

Take a moment to reflect about all the things that you take for granted, at least once a day.
Take a moment, to thank life/god/whatever-you-believe-in/luck/etc.

This is truly a Great Day.

This Century

2 recommended books:

– how to live 24 hours a day
– get it right

The first one talks about time management, and how people waste their most valuable possession,
it was written in 1910, the second one is a bunch of hints on how to write correctly, written around 1930.

As an active and evolving language, the English has changed since 1930, however, those advices seem mostly
still valid as of today (2006).
Soon, it will be 100 years since the writing of the first book, but what’s written there is just as valid as
when it was thought of, which makes me wonder, if what I write will still be valid in 100 years?
Will the URLs still work (will there be an internet at all?), will my pondering, thoughts, and remarks will be seen
as silly, and ridiculous, or as timeless and valid.
What will my readers think of my writings in 2106?, will I be read in 2106?, but perhaps the bigger issue is:
does it matter?.
Once you are dead, and your body turns into ashes, does fame matter?
despite what s/everyone says/most people say/ , it was a great century.

Yesterday[1], I had a date with a girl that went to high school with me, a long time ago.
We were supposed to meet at 8 pm somewhere downtown.

She didn’t show up.

Somehow, I wasn’t disappointed, since I actually expected her not to show up.
This raises an interesting question: “WHY in the hell would I want her not to show up?”,
the answer is “I did wanted her to come, but I kinda knew she wouldn’t”, and WHY did I “knew”
she wouldn’t?, because I have learnt from life, that when you expect nothing, It’s hard to be

In fact, it is actually easier to be /surprised/, than disappointed.

I wrote this using VIM 7, with flawless spell-checking capabilities, and low memory consumption.

no reason

Dear reader, Today I feel like I needn’t to convince you, of the greatness of this day.
nature seems to have done a great job doing so.
did you hear it?
or did you spent you entire day sitting in an office, while nature awaits outside to be heard.

just a glimpse to the sky, s/seems/IS/ [1] enough to me today.

[1] it’s a regex, if you don’t know what it is, then don’t ask, believe me, my life hasn’t improved in any way after I knew what that was, if anything, it has become increasely complicated and harsh.

Sky on Fire

Altough today here in bogotá, is very cloudy and kinda raining, every so often we get remimded by nature of how wonderful this world really is. one of its ways of showing off, is the landscapes, which of course, are free.

The picture is not mine, I remember once taking one just like this one, a while ago.

if you are interested, you can get a lot more from here:

Weekend + WinJoke32

I usually work on saturdays, but this Weekend, I took my time to read the newspaper, and lurk arround my neigbourhood.
Lurking arround, I realized how lonely and friendless I am, I kept thinking to myself, stuff like “boy I’m lonely!”, or “nobody gives a rat’s ass about me”, and I’m probably right.
nevertheless, it was a good day.

Why would I say, that hanging arround lonely and friendless, thinking to myself all kinds of depressing stuff, qualifies for a good day?.

well, It wasn’t.

It was a GREAT day.
having legs, and the hability to lurk arround, is enough reason for me to qualify saturday (and every other day, for that matter), as a GREAT day.

“… untill I saw a footless man”.

I saw an old lady in a wheelchair, which reminded me of how great is to have 2 working legs to lurk arround with.

Listening to my hearth beating, as I slowly fall sleep, remimds me hat I’m still alive.

does your hearth beat?

are you alive?

It sounds like a ridiculous question, tough. of course the reader is alive, other wise how in the hell could he/she read this?, but it has a different meaning, from the ovbious. the question is, are you alive?, do you feel alive?, do you feel that you are living?, or are just lurking arround,. looking for self-*satisfactino, with no other purpose in life than just eating abd breathing?, often, my friend would answer something like “eat and sleep”, when asked “what do you do”.
even tough that is suposed to be a funny answer, many people arround are just “eating and sleeping”, that is, not a lot of interesting, or intelectual interaction with others of any kind, except, perhaps wahtcing the TV, but I wouldn’t consider whatciong TV an intelecual exchange, given the state of the TV as of now (late 2006), but more of a comercial conversatino, between thousands of advertisers, and a single, yet captive audience, that is readying their credit cards to buy all the useless, stupid, and crappy stuff they sell every day, from fat reduction placebos, to cranky pieces of metal (that are suposed to replace the willpower, discipline and determination gained by a good old-fashioned work-out session, but fail miserably) “twice as fast as ordinary methods”.

that’s sad.

so here’s a joke to cheer you up

he estado usando hace cierto tiempo una pequeña herramienta WEB, para administrar objetivos y metas, se llama Joe’s Goals.

me pareció buena, sencilla, y además de todo usa AJAX (si no saben que és, tranquilos).
